A fatal accident at the north junction of Highways 75 and 18 west of Hull on Tuesday afternoon, September 10, 2025, claimed the life of one teenager and left another requiring emergency airlift transport for medical treatment.

The Iowa State Patrol responded to and investigated the crash, which occurred at one of the more heavily traveled rural intersections in Sioux County. Highways 75 and 18 are both major corridors in Northwest Iowa — Highway 75 runs north-south through the heart of Sioux County, while Highway 18 serves as the primary east-west route across the northern portion of the county.

One teenager involved in the crash was pronounced dead at the scene. A second teenager sustained injuries serious enough to require airlift transport to a regional medical facility for treatment. The identities of those involved were not immediately released pending family notification.

The State Patrol's investigation focused on determining the cause of the crash and the sequence of events that led to the collision. No additional details about the circumstances of the accident were available at the time of initial reporting.

The crash prompted renewed calls from local officials and law enforcement for driver caution at rural highway intersections, where high speeds and limited visibility can create dangerous conditions, particularly for young and inexperienced drivers.
